During October we are holding engagement activities with the community in Wellington, with the purpose of exploring aspirations and a vision for the town. There will be a pop-up event in Wellington town centre, a workshop with key stakeholders from the community and activities and resources for schools. These activities are being supported by this online engagement activity to ensure there is additional opportunity for members of the community to take part.
This visioning exercise, although not a statutory requirement, is an additional and valuable opportunity for the community to inform and influence the evolution of this Plan for their town.
The results of this visioning exercise, along with our evidence base review, will inform the Wellington Place Plan document. The Wellington Place Plan be subject to formal statutory consultation, of a minimum of 4 weeks, in January next year; and scheduled for adoption at Full Council in March 2023.
This is an exciting opportunity to take part in creating a vision for Wellington, that can embrace all the themes which contribute to the town’s unique sense of place, including those which may be under threat. It can include aspirations on how to enhance, reinforce and develop this sense of place, and suggest measures for doing so.
Your say in developing a vision for Wellington will be key in informing and influencing what the Place Plan will look like. We are keen to make sure this Plan embraces the cultural influences and stories that are central to Wellington in making this town unique.
