The Small Scale Industrial Space (Affordable Employment) LDO was adopted as policy at Somerset West and Taunton's Full Council on 29 September 2020.

The adopted documents can be found here.

We are now consulting on the Employment Local Development Order (LDO) for small scale industrial space. The consultation will take place from Monday 13 January to Monday 16 March 2020.

A copy of the draft order including the Technical Informative, Design Guide and Statement of Reasons for making the order are available for inspection at the following locations:

  1. Deane House, Belvedere Road, Taunton, TA1 1HE (Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 5pm)
  2. West Somerset House, Killick Way, Williton, TA4 4QA (Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 5pm)

The draft order, Technical Informative, Design Guide and Statement of Reasons for making the order will also be available for inspection at all libraries in Somerset West and Taunton, as well as Nether Stowey and North Petherton libraries. They will additionally be published on the Council’s website.

Following the consultation exercise, SWT will consider: what modifications need to be made to the draft LDO; whether such an order should be adopted; and take into account any other representations made in relation to the order.

Why your views matter

The Employment LDO is a proactive planning tool to enable increased delivery of small-scale industrial space in rural parts of Somerset West and Taunton, and was developed in response to demand from small businesses to set up or expand their existing operations.
